Boosting Your Self
Esteem
Feeling bad about oneself is part of human
experience. But if one regularly nurtures negative feelings then he
or she is referred to as having low self-esteem. Such a person
dwells in self-hate, shame, guilt, anger and embarrassment. A
person suffering from low self-esteem criticizes himself and passes
comments like, “I should not have done that”, “why do I act like a
fool?” etc. Psychologists say that if you keep thinking along the
lines of “I am a fool”, then your mind would tend to prove yourself
right by making you act in such a way.
Signs
of Poor Self Esteem
No one is like the other and we all react
to situations differently. If you develop low self-esteem then you
would have difficulty in making or keeping friends. You may become
easily discouraged, disheartened and moody; as a chain reaction,
this may put down those around you and you may also have a
difficult time in solving your own problems. You would hold
yourself back from new opportunities in life or move on into your
future. If you ask, “can I not get out of this pattern?” the answer
is a definite “yes, you can.”
Developing Positive Self-Esteem
Our understanding of ourselves is usually
based upon other peoples’ opinions about us. This is
one main reason why some have a good self-esteem and others lack
the same. It is imperative to develop a strong self-esteem in
childhood. Self-esteem is learned and much of that learning occurs
at home during one’s childhood.
Here we give you a few tips that would
help boost your self-esteem:
 |
Love is the key to booster
one’s self-esteem. Self-esteem is developed only by self-love.

tonic. Just look into the mirror and tell yourself that you are
pretty looking or you are nice or any other nice statement about
yourself. That works wonders! |

prettier or smarter. You could get a haircut, buy a new dress or do
whatever that will make you feel like a new
person. |

and trim. This will improve your poise and
presence. |
 |

positive qualities and know that you are not bad at
all! |

good deed a day. This will make you see your generosity and
kindness. |

new people. You may discover that many people out there do not know
themselves. |

promoting a positive attitude and high self esteem in their kids.
